February Snow
Simon ambled through the closing market, watching the sky, the clouds were dark and heavy. Jason was trying to rush him, taking a few quick steps ahead of him before pausing and waiting for him to catch up.
"Get a move on, it's bloody freezing."
"It'll be just as freezing in the car, you know that?"
Jason paid no mind and continued to walk, grumbling as they began to cross the green around the square. Simon stopped in the grassy area, still watching the sky.
"It's snowing."
"Oh Christ. Come on before it gets any heavier."
"Let's watch it."
Jason groaned and pulled a face of despair, but he stood next to Simon and watched the snow falling lightly, rubbing his hands together to warm them. Simon let out a happy sort of noise and took Jason's hand, tucking it in his jacket pocket with his own.
"There's something sad about the last snow of the year..."
They stood watching in silence as night set in and the snow fell heavier around them, Simon's rested his hand around Jason's waist, bringing him closer for warmth.
"Come on then, Si."
"Not yet..."
Simon let his head fall onto Jason's shoulder, then turned, bringing his other arm around the younger's waist, holding him tight. Jason wrapped his arms around Simon's shoulders, letting the other man hide his sadness.
"Alright, we'll go when you want to."
Simon lifted his head and kissed Jason softly, holding a moment before Jason opened his mouth, sucking in the rush of warm air and Simon's tongue.
It was brief but when they broke apart Simon was smiling, he gently brushed a few snowflakes from Jason's shoulder and then began to walk away, leaving his sadness behind in the snow like footsteps.
"Come on then, it's fucking cold."
